Ponderings on the Camino

Having dipped my toe in the water of long (ish) distance walking, I’m reading up about the Camino – and interested in the Portuguese route.

However, in a brief conversation last week, someone who has walked the Portuguese route said that a lot of it was on cobbled streets and roads, and quite difficult walking, something she would not do again.

I’ve done a bit of online research, and it seems that this is more true in Portugal than in Spain ?

Also I’m reading quite a bit about routes that are mostly along roads, rather than countryside tracks.

Any advice about planning a route that would avoid cobbles as far as possible, and be in the countryside rather than on roads ?

Good walking
